Blow My Mind : Amarna Miller + Pablo Ferrari

See, I was in touch with the gorgeous rising star of the new generation of porn, Amarna Miller. She’s one of these people that I am delighted to work with. She’s feisty, clever, gorgeous, loving her body and filled with good vibes.

I wanted to shoot something special with her, so I put up this crazy dream sequence, in which she dives into her subconscious. They both came to Berlin and we shot this film very naturally and fluidly. They had an incredible chemistry together and it was super fun to shoot crazy scenes like Amarna dancing with my childhood Teddy Bear, jumping up and down the bed or taking instant photos of Pablo masturbating…

Into the deep corners of Raquel’s subconscious

Ok, let me fill you on the story before you have time to think wtf.

Raquel is working at home on a Friday afternoon. A client calls her blows away her chance at having a chilled week end. She falls asleep as a picture she sees online triggers her imagination.

If you could do anything, what would you do?

We then dive into her subconscious, following her brain into deep corners of her mind. We follow her wild exploration, witnessing bizarre scenes and observing the manifestation of her synapses putting fantasies together. She focuses on Adrián, whom she’s been wanting to fuck for a while. In her head, all the desires come true. She sucks him, mounts him, lets him pleasure her in every way she wants.

The goal was to dive into the vividness of wet dreams and show how intense the sexual mind is. With this I also wanted to show that women do have as intense a sexuality as men and it’s high time they start exploring themselves and taking control over their sexuality.

Inspired by Baudelaire and Mica Levi, Gyllenör shot an intriguing and impactful short film, in which he examines the dynamics and similarities between oysters and pussies. With the black and white footage and the close-up shots, it’s actually pretty hard to tell the difference between the two.

Everything in the world, is connected, so it doesn’t surprise me much, but the effect it has on the viewer is quite strong. The knife digs into the mollusk and caresses the lips, provoking a sense of fascination and fear at the same time.

It reminds me of Meow Meow’s hypnotizing Calamares.

The California-based directing duo Will Hoffman and Julius Metoyer were greatly dissatisfied with how sex is portrayed in films, so they decided to shoot their own short film, called Lover, for Nowness.

Love : the missing ingredient?

I don’t know why, but it’s supposed to be cheesy to talk about love. Maybe that’s because of all the bad romantic comedies that most of us have grown up with. When I talk about adding feelings to porn, I sometimes get this really ignorant, macho response, like “oh that’s erotica” or “that’s for girls”.  No. It’s about showing the intimacy and the real fun that two people can have together. It doesn’t have to be great romantic love, but there has to be love nonetheless. And it can take many different forms.

For Lover, the directors picked actors from their circles of friends, and Craigslist, but only hired real couples, in order to show the essence of sex in its truest form. That moment when you’re in love and sex with your partner make you feel like walking on clouds. I like how they phrase it: that moment where you let go of judgment or self-consciousness and just open yourself up to impulse and desire.

Is love anti porn?

It’s great to show love in a porn film. You know me, I’m all for it. That’s why I think love and porn are not opposites. Shooting people who love each other doesn’t mean it’s not a porn film. I don’t know if it was the choice of Nowness or the directors to market it as an anti-porn film, because it’s simply not true.

I think it’s important that we reclaim the word porn instead of automatically associating it with all the bad, mainstream porn we know. Porn can be beautiful. It can be full of love. You can have close-up shots of genitals and still call it a love story.

Porn is just sex on camera, so it’s our mission to make it as impactful just like any other director who makes a movie, porno or not.

However, as they explain it, and I quite agree with them:

If your only goal is to arouse someone then you should make porn. If you want to try to make someone think or feel something else, you have to create a different set of rules…

People are always surprised that I can sell my films online, and that enough people will jerk off to them so I can make a living off it. I do believe that the only goal is not to make somebody jerk off. It’s like anything: if you corrupt your content by trying to anticipate what people want, then it’s going to be a shitty film. I strongly believe that you can make anything hot, beautiful, impactful… by speaking from the heart, or the cunt, in my case…

Mainstream porn producers have already tried all angles to appeal to their specifically heteronormative audience. But it’s not working. I mean, yes, they made a bunch of money from it, but look at us, we’ve become sex zombies addicted to growing bra sizes. That’s why we need feelings, we need love, we need to be reminded what makes sex so great and such a complete experience when you don’t reduce it to a couple of positions of hard fucking.

The directors also explain:

To maximize our footage we had to speak up and say things like, ‘Can you do that but put your heads toward the window?’ Speaking up was weird at first, but you learned that there was a right time to ask and a wrong time ask.”

That’s something that is tricky to learn. You need to have good shots, but you also need to let the performers do their thing, otherwise the concept is lost. So there are some good moments to ask somebody to move a leg, but mostly, you should just let them go with the flow.

So, I’d like to stress that this is definitely porn, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Let’s all make better porn!

Hello good sex lovers, my name is Poppy Sanchez, I’ve been interning for Lucie Blush since August and will be helping her update the blog. In the next few months lots of new things will be happening on the site and I’m very excited to tell you all about it.

I will start by telling you a bit about myself. Before moving to Berlin, I co-owned a small production company in Amsterdam (NL) called Zure Room where we aspired to make cinematic adult films that would appeal to a broad audience. After working for Zure Room for almost two years, I decided it was time to move forward in more ways than one. I saved up for a year to move to the city that I adored and started working on new concepts for a series of films that are now in pre-production.

Since exploring the world of feminist and female-led porn, I admired Lucie’s films and my motivation to work for her came after I met her on a hot summer’s afternoon in June. We talked about what we thought was important regarding porn and came across many similar opinions as well as aspirations and I knew I wanted to start creating films together.

Last year I directed a short film called Wet Dreams featuring my friend and incredible performer Maria Riot.

It’s a film about Maria’s fantasy of being watched, touched and groped by a group of people. Amongst the oily hands, she surrenders to her desires and allows them to make her legs tremble with pleasure as she’s encased in pure bliss.

This film was incredibly fun to shoot. We planned a weekend with three porn performers, three short film scripts and started off with Wet Dreams to set the mood. We wanted it to look like Maria was lying in bed, only we knew it would be too difficult with the equipment we had, so like the true porn Macgyvers, we put the mattress up against the wall, invited over some close friends and started filming.

I could tell Maria was nervous, she hadn’t performed for that many shoots before and of course it’s one thing to perform in front of two or three people and another to have six people who you hardly know oil you up and start touching you, but that did add to the authenticity of her fantasy.

Before shooting, we explained our idea and asked Maria to tell everyone the dos and don’ts, there was a good energy on set and everyone was excited to start. We had a bit of difficulty coordinating that many hands at first, but as everyone started getting oilier, their hands seemingly slid like a smooth choreography exploring Maria’s curvaceous body.

It was a great experience to make someone’s personal fantasy come to life, I’m really proud to have it screened on Lucie’s site and I hope you enjoy watching it!

I decided to make a film that shows self-love and lust in a positive light because I think allot of people, especially women are embarrassed to talk openly about masturbation.

So let’s talk about real self-love, something that goes beyond ‘body positive’ hashtags and mirror selfies.
Self-love should come form an understanding that you have to love yourself in order for others to love you, but this shouldn’t be the main reason why you want to love yourself.

You should want to love yourself because it’s the most important relationship you will ever have.

A few years ago, I got out of a long-term relationship. After we split I couldn’t love myself because I had lost a sense of who I was.

I remember right before we broke up I looked my lover in the eyes and realised that I knew everything about him and nothing about me, this provoked a strong motivation to revive the relationship I had with myself and invest positive energy into something that’s worth keeping.

Confidence

Sexuality played a big part in rediscovering myself, it taught me how to be confident without the validation of others. I’ve spoken to allot of women lately who say they don’t experience much sexual pleasure with a partner because they have difficulty letting go and reaching orgasm.

A lot of women don’t feel sexually confident during sex, which is something I gained through masturbation and focusing on what I do love about myself instead of what I don’t.

Another thing that helped was letting go of prejudice thoughts and pretending to have the kind of confidence I wanted and eventually I noticed that I wasn’t pretending anymore, so if all else fails; fake it till you make it!

Discovering your sexuality should start with yourself, it helped me understand exactly what my body likes and dislikes which also helped my sexual experiences with other people become more enjoyable.
Realising how much fun I can have by myself has empowered and encouraged me to shamelessly embrace self-love and I hope my newest film inspires you to do the same.

I am happy to release my new short, Captive. Shot a couple months ago in Berlin, with the help of Poppy Sanchez (DOP), Mohit Maini (sound) and Paul Henschel (Photographer), the film is quite different from my previous works. I wanted to create a more cinematographic, dramatic story in which the sex in not an excuse but a crucial part of the narrative.

Shooting Captive

We had only five hours to shoot the whole thing, in the basement of a hipster bar in Neukölln, Berlin. I had wanted to cast Amber Nevada for a while and she had been longing to shoot with Owen Gray for a long time, so when we all found each other in a dark basement with duct tape and fake blood, we already knew it had worked out for the best.

I was used to shooting happy scenes where everybody smiles and has fun. I wanted to try something new. Something that required going deeper and pushed my skills as a director and camerawoman further.

After a year of editing, a year of doubts, questions and path-altering events, DAWN is finally ready. My first long film, my revenge project. Three days in the woods, a trippy script, a van and a whole team of people running from the storm with expensive equipment…

The shooting of Dawn was definitely an adventure. It has taking me a long time to figure out the changes in my life, and I feel that the editing of this film has been with me the whole time, reflecting my highs and lows.

I have just had the pleasure of finding out about ‘Sexblotch’ thanks to Le Tag Parfait. The idea of triggering people’s insides without showing any actual sex is one of the greatest challenges, in my opinion.

So check out Sexblotch, a project by two Belgian guys, Pierre Lebecque and Serge Goldwitcht, who decided to join their skills and make erotic videos, without sex. They create hypnotizing visuals mixed with sounds of orgasms.

Sexblotch helps you to discover a new, erotic mental space, one that belongs to you alone. Disconnecting in this erotic way allows you to gain greater awareness of your innermost private desires.

Of course, seeing the ‘action’ works instantly on a lot of people, it turns us on and off we go, we masturbate like we smoke a cigarette. We love everything ‘instant’ these days, but sex deserves that we take a deeper look at it, don’t you think? All I’m saying is that it’s exciting to see new initiatives like this one.

I remember my ‘9 to 5’ era. Waking up at ungodly hours, shoving a quick breakfast before shoving myself in an overcrowded metro. I hated it, but we do what we got to do. Routine is a famous theme in a couple’s relationship. It can be deadly. Or. It can be a playground, a game. Being away from your partner for the whole day instead of snuggling under the covers and snoozing the alarm away is not ideal, but it also means you get to find them again after slaving away for eight hours.

‘9to5’

I seem to be focusing a lot on imagination lately. I don’t have a 9 to 5 job, but I did move twice in the last six months, so I’ve had to be up and awake during office hours, organizing my life and daydreaming about my inner instincts in the meantime. It gave me a lot of ideas.

My husband is making tailored soundtracks for my films now, and we thought it would be cool to make music for this scene and use it to reinforce the idea of an automated life. When you have a solid routine and a job to go to every day, your body moves for you. Your habits drive you out of bed and into the shower.

In ‘9to5’, Juan and Katana wake up early. Their first instinct is to have slow, lazy waking up sex, and yet, they are interrupted by the alarm. The apartment comes to life as they go about their morning routine, but they can’t seem to focus on what they are doing, still having sex together in their mind. So they share a fantasy while driven in this loop of automated, almost robotic gestures.
